Dmitry Tolstov didn’t “install CarPlay.” He worked backward from the Saab 9-3’s factory ergonomics and packaging constraints, then built an ICM3-sized solution around a 10.26-inch CarPlay screen - keeping factory wiring and steering-wheel logic intact.
When Saab ended development at ICM3, the story didn’t stop. Inspired by the community’s “ICM4” idea, a Polish Saab enthusiast is developing an ambitious prototype multimedia system for 2003–2006 Saab 9-3 models -focused on OEM behavior, fiber optics, and Saab-correct logic rather than shortcuts.
ICM4 is a rare Saab upgrade that respects the car’s original architecture instead of working around it. Built specifically for 2003–2006 Saab 9-3 models, it adds CarPlay and Android Auto while retaining OEM fiber optics, SID/eSID functionality, steering wheel controls, and parking assistance - without a single cut wire.
