Official event photographers were already working around central Ullånger when Bo Ulander arrived on Saturday, June 13. Instead of trying to duplicate their assignment, he approached Svenska Saabklubben’s 50th anniversary gathering in the way familiar to followers of his Flickr albums: moving through the display area at his own pace and building a broad visual record for people who were there as well as those following the event from abroad.
“I arrived a few hours after the morning start,” Bo explains. “There was a great deal to take in and photograph at the venue, but I tried to arrange the coverage in my usual style so that both participants and viewers would enjoy it.”
The result is a 279-photo gallery covering the principal day of a three-day anniversary weekend held from June 12 to 14, 2026, with Ullångers centrumhus and the surrounding town-center area serving as its hub.
SaabPlanet had previewed the High Coast gathering in December 2025, when Svenska Saabklubben was still preparing its principal celebration of 50 years as an organized home for Swedish Saab owners.
A Club Anniversary Built Around the Cars
Friday was designated as the activity day, combining registration in Ullånger with suggested driving routes, a family rally and excursions along the old coastal road. The format allowed members to move between local attractions without relying on the E4 motorway, making the surrounding High Coast landscape part of the weekend rather than simply the route to the venue.
One car also became a recurring point of attention throughout the first two days. The main raffle prize was an inspected and road-ready Saab 900i 16v, displayed at the event before the winning ticket was drawn late on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday was the anniversary day itself and the part of the weekend documented by Bo. The exhibition classes covered almost the entire Saab passenger-car chronology: early two-stroke 92, 93, 95 and 96 models; V4 cars; Sonetts; the 99, classic 900 and 9000; both generations of the 9-3 and 9-5; and the less frequently encountered 9-2X, 9-4X and 9-7X.
Separate categories were also created for custom cars, the event’s “time capsule,” the longest-distance visitor and a dedicated anniversary award. That range matters when viewing Bo’s gallery: this was not a display structured around one favored generation, but a club exhibition designed to represent the full breadth of the membership.
Claes Johansson and Carl Legelius served as hosts during the day, conducting interviews around the grounds, while the photo wall, family activities, club shop and parts sales gave owners reasons to remain around the event center rather than treat the exhibition as a brief stop between drives.
From Ullånger to Norrfällsviken
Once the town-center program ended, the anniversary continued several miles away at Norrfällsviken Camping, Stugby och Marina.
Club members had prepared the venue for an evening barbecue buffet with capacity for approximately 500 registered participants. The figure describes the scale of the preparations rather than a confirmed attendance total, but it shows how far the anniversary extended beyond the daytime car display.
For Bo, the Saturday photographs therefore represent one part of a larger club weekend. His gallery concentrates on Ullånger during the main exhibition hours, while the official program continued into the evening at Norrfällsviken.
Sunday brought the celebration back to central Ullånger for a market and car-boot sale, further excursion opportunities and a closing lunch. By then, the emphasis had shifted from judged exhibition classes and interviews to parts, conversations and the practical side of keeping older Saabs on the road.
An Independent Record of the Anniversary Day
Svenska Saabklubben had commissioned its own photographers to document the celebration for the club’s channels. Bo’s album should be viewed as a complementary record: an independent sequence assembled by a photographer who attended as part of the wider Saab community and selected his own subjects, angles and pacing.
That distinction gives the gallery much of its value. An official event report must cover organizers, presentations and scheduled moments. A long-form personal album can also retain the smaller observations between them – the cars that caught the photographer’s attention, details owners chose to display and the changing flow of people through the grounds.
