A Dedicated Event Built Around Saab’s Mechanical Origins
On April 4, 2026, the Saab community will once again gather in Dalfsen for a highly specific type of event – one that deliberately avoids the broader Saab spectrum and instead focuses on the cars that built the brand’s early identity.
Following the strong response to previous editions, Wouter Tammeling (Tammeling Autotechniek) and Johan Tammeling (Saabmuseum Takt2Aero) are organizing the next 2-Stroke & V4 Owners Meeting at the Takt2Aero museum.
This is not positioned as a general Saab meet. The structure and audience are clearly defined from the outset:
only cars powered by Saab’s two-stroke engines or later V4 units.

Why Two-Stroke and V4 Cars Still Matter
Saab’s early development was not built on turbocharging, safety marketing, or GM-era platforms. It started with compact, lightweight cars powered by two-stroke engines, followed by the transition to the Ford Taunus-derived V4.
These powertrains defined:
- Saab’s early rally competitiveness
- The brand’s unconventional engineering direction
- A driving experience shaped by sound, simplicity, and mechanical feedback
The two-stroke cars introduced Saab to international audiences through motorsport success, while the V4 models stabilized the platform with improved torque and usability.
Today, both categories represent a closed chapter of Saab engineering – one that depends almost entirely on enthusiasts, specialists, and small networks to survive.
Event Structure: Simple, Functional, and Community-Driven
The format reflects how these cars are actually maintained.
Instead of staged presentations or formal programs, the meeting is built around practical interaction between owners:
- Arrival and informal gathering at the museum
- Access to the Takt2Aero Saab collection
- A trunk-based parts exchange – still one of the most effective ways to source rare components
- Time allocated for discussion, inspection, and problem-solving between owners
Food and drinks are provided, but the central value of the event remains technical and community-focused.
For owners of two-stroke and V4 Saabs, this type of setup is significantly more useful than larger, generalist events where these cars represent only a small fraction of the field.
Location: Saabmuseum Takt2Aero as a Functional Hub
The choice of venue is not incidental.
Saabmuseum Takt2Aero in Dalfsen has developed into a specialized environment for early Saab models, supported by the adjacent expertise of Tammeling Autotechniek.
This combination creates:
- Direct access to historical vehicles
- Proximity to active restoration knowledge
- A setting where discussions are grounded in real technical experience
For participants traveling from outside the Netherlands, the surrounding region also offers additional points of interest, which will be shared closer to the event date.

A Pattern Worth Noting in the Saab Community
Events like this reflect a broader shift.
Instead of large, multi-model gatherings, there is increasing value in focused, technically aligned meetings where owners share similar challenges, parts needs, and restoration approaches.
For two-stroke and V4 Saab owners, this is not just another meet.
It is one of the few environments where:
- Parts circulation still happens organically
- Knowledge is exchanged directly, without documentation gaps
- Cars are understood in the context they were originally engineered for
That is precisely why the Dalfsen meeting continues to return each year – and why its relevance is growing rather than fading.
