A friend left that 900 convertible behind and moved to the West Coast. It has been sitting for 2 years and was able to start and drove fine until last October, when it stopped starting. It turns, but it wouldn’t fire up. It had an intermittent starter issue before, but I suspect an ignition or fuel supply issue for the no start condition now, because the starter is turning. In any case, I have no time and desire to work on it and I also will not scrap a classic 900.
Come take it to either fix it, or to feed parts into another classic 900. There is a lot of valuable parts on this car, starting with the much sought after interior, wheels, let alone engine and transmission. I understand that it’s a non-starting car, but you need to be confident in the model and take my word that engine, transmission and turbo have no issues. If it doesn’t sell for a while, I will start troubleshooting and will put it back on the road. The price then will not remain the same though.
It has 224,000 miles. Engine, transmission, and turbo are all good and never had issues, it was a daily driver up until early 2014. It will take little to have it back on the road – starting problem and tires. The convertible top works too, so do all the power windows. The paint has faded significantly and is quite unappealing, and the left hand side fender has rust that needs to be fixed. As shown in the photos, this 900 does not carry rust in the usual areas, so it’s definitely worth saving.
You will have to tow it, or start it on the spot. I have the title and can sign it over.
Don’t offer me to ‘take it for free’ or to give me $100. I am in no rush to either fix it or sell it, so it may sit for another 2 years but will not go to scrap, for free, of for $100.
