The 7,750-Mile Saab 9-3 Cabriolet That Sold for £9,250

A 2007 Saab 9-3 Cabriolet with 7,750 miles on the clock. Arctic Blue paint. As-new condition. A car the mainstream trade valued at under £2,000 - and that the enthusiast market took to £10,000. But the real story isn't the price. It's what happened the morning after the hammer fell.

Saab Convertible: A Car for Optimists Who Don’t Wait for the Sun

A Norwegian car magazine set out to portrait convertible enthusiasts of all makes - and buried inside, a Saab family from Sandefjord reminded us why the Cabriolet has always been in a class of its own. From a father test-driving a yellow Aero V6 in Dubai to daughters keeping two Saabs alive back home in Norway, the Urheim family story is just one thread in a much larger tapestry: three strangers in England united by identical red 9-3s, a Dutch community of 2,000 members, and a decades-old Consumer Reports observation that Saab convertible owners spend more time with their tops down than drivers of any other ragtop. Some cars transport you. The Saab Cabriolet does something else entirely.

The automatic transaxle will limit the ceiling, but at current bidding it is priced well below where comparable examples have been closing.

291 hp from a 240,000 km Saab 9-3 V6 Aero Hirsch – AutoWeek’s Dyno Test Revisited

In 2021, a Dutch father and son rolled a repaired 2005 Saab 9-3 Sport Estate into Beek Auto Racing's dyno cell. The car had front-end collision damage, a freshly replaced dashboard, and 240,000 km on the clock. The Hirsch tune on its 2.8 V6 was rated at 275 hp. The SuperFlow system measured 291 hp and 482 Nm - 82 Nm above the published torque spec. This is what that result tells us about the engine, the tune, and what these cars are still capable of.
