This late CC-generation 9000 combines a five-speed manual, an Abbott Racing upgrade and well-documented mechanical history with an unusually honest appearance.
A striking 1991 Saab 9000 S 2.3 Turbo has appeared on eBay UK, priced at £5,495, or approximately $7,490 at the current exchange rate. The private seller is also accepting offers.
Finished in red and registered in Britain on September 18, 1991, this is the late, slope-front version of the original five-door 9000 hatchback. It comes from the brief transition between the earlier flat-front CC and the substantially restyled 9000 CS. Its appearance has been sharpened with 16-inch Super Aero wheels, but the black bumpers, narrow side moldings, full-width rear light panel and upright CC glasshouse remain intact.
The odometer shows 145,513 miles, equivalent to approximately 234,200 kilometers, and eBay records eight previous owners. The current owner has reportedly kept the car for five years but is selling because it receives too little use.

A History File That Matters
The seller’s strongest claim concerns the accompanying paperwork. The car reportedly retains every invoice from new, its previous MOT certificates and a full service record, all organized in a folder. The final listing photograph also shows the original Saab document wallet, owner’s literature, warranty material and period accessories booklet.
The 9000 was placed into storage in 2009 and remained there for eight years. Since returning to the road in 2017, it has covered only around 4,000 miles. Its current MOT runs until the end of November 2026, with only approximately 100 miles driven since the last test.
Work completed for that MOT included new front brake discs and pads, front anti-roll-bar links and a rear brake caliper. Earlier invoices reportedly document a head-gasket and balance-chain replacement at 108,441 miles, followed by a new clutch, slave cylinder and master cylinder at 111,072 miles. The maintenance record also includes replacement DI units and a water pump.

Those larger jobs should not be described as recent without checking their dates, since they were carried out more than 34,000 miles ago. Nevertheless, their documentation is valuable on an early B234-powered 9000, particularly when supported by a continuous invoice file rather than an undocumented list of previous repairs.
Abbott Power and a Carefully Chosen Chassis Setup
When the car emerged from storage in 2017, it received Bilstein B6 dampers and Eibach springs lowering the body by approximately 30 mm. The Super Aero wheels carry matching 205/50 R16 Bridgestone tires, giving the 9000 a stance closer to the later 9000 Aero without adding an imitation Aero body kit.
The seller also reports an Abbott Racing ECU conversion producing approximately 260 bhp. Abbott still lists a period-appropriate DI/APC power upgrade for 1985–1993 Saab 9000 models, although a prospective buyer should confirm precisely which hardware and calibration are fitted to this particular car.
The photographs show a complete gray leather cabin with heated front seats, wood-effect dashboard trim, sunroof and manual gearbox. There is visible wear on the steering wheel and front leather, while an aftermarket audio unit has replaced the original radio. None of it looks cosmetically overprepared; the interior presents as a used but preserved 145,000-mile Saab rather than a freshly retrimmed sales exhibit.
Outside, the red paint still has considerable depth, although the seller acknowledges that storage has left it needing a proper polish. More importantly, the listing states that the body is solid and has never required welding. The eight photographs do not include the underside, engine bay, wheel arches or lower sill seams, so that claim should still be checked during an inspection.
At the time of writing, 62 people were watching the listing. 7:25 p.m. UK time. For buyers who prefer a documented, mechanically upgraded 9000 with honest cosmetic aging to a newly restored example of uncertain history, this red 2.3 Turbo deserves a close examination.

I got a headliner done on one of my 900’s, swapped my 9000 with it to get the 9000 headliner done. Just reinforced how much more I love the 9000 driving them back to back
