PBS Review: “Great Cars – SAAB”

SAAB 2003 9-3 Sport Sedan Launch Film

This is old, but nice video From the PBS TV series on automobiles “Great Cars”.

As they say in this TV series: “Saab has created many supreme automotive designs. But Saab marches to its own tune. And breaking from tradition has enhanced Saab’s appeal. Saab’s independence can be traced to its precarious development on the wings of Sweden’s post-war aviation industry. Its engineers and designers gambled on their ability to transform their aviation experience into automobile manufacturing. Today, their efforts are admired worldwide. But Saab’s transformation from wings to wheels, has been a long and difficult journey…

We don’t know when it was filmed because the newest car they showed was the Saab 9-3 cabrio (and I generation of Saab 9-5), so no 9-2x, 9-7x (but in the introduction they mentioned Saab having an SUV).  Maybe because the 9-2x and the 9-7x are not “true” Saabs, they weren’t mentioned.
