Emissions tests are commonly performed in some regions to try to reduce the carbon footprint of vehicles. Trionic is an engine management system developed by Saab Automobile, consisting of an engine control unit (ECU) that controls 3 engine aspects: Ignition timing, Fuel injection and Acts as a boost controller.
Saab Trionic was developed by Saab Automobile back in 1991. It was first implemented in the 1994 model year Saab 9000 as well as the new generation Saab 900 models. Many late model Saab applications implement Trionic systems which incorporate a single control unit to control all aspects of engine management (direct ignition, fuel injection, and turbo/APC).
The SAAB Trionic engine management system was developed for the Saab 9000 and ‘New Generation’ 900 turbocharged engines.
Also, Trionic Saab not only improves performance, but also produce the side effects (idle quality, emissions, etc.) Saab Trionic improve vehicle emissions – The SAAB Trionic cleans the air. In the next rare video you can see an interesting comparison of the old Saab 92 and Saab 9000 model with Trionic system:
